Nintendo's Plan Has Suceeded Thus Far
Don't you think? When Wii (or Revolution, as it was called back then) was revealed the huge majority of the gaming world wasn't convinced. Hell, I remember posting on here about it and I was about the only one in favour of it. Most people were saying this would never appeal to people, and Ninty had basically done themselves in when I was arguing it would appeal to the masses.
Now, it seems EVERYONE who lays eyes on it wants one. The general opinion has done a complete 180 and Ninty have really made a console that not only everyone can afford, but that everyone wants. Hell, check the few threads in this forum alone, in the 30 MINUTES that we have been posting about it, 3 people have declared they've changed their mind and want one.
I tip my hat to them. They've done what they set out to do, and most of the doubters have been converted along the way. Ninty still know gaming.

Fun and Simplicity = Success? It seems as though that's the way it is. Nintendo definately knows how to convince the unbelievers; you can say that much.

A cheap form factor, intuitive controls and innovation definitely = success. There is a VERY slim chance that the Wii will fail like the GC did.

To be fair, the GC didn't really fail. It made a profit, unlike PS2/Xbox. Ninty consider it a success.
Obviously, it wasn't the most popular, but still.
However, they've also said if Wii doesn't do better than the GC they'll consider it a failiure, so they're aiming much higher this time round. Rightfully so, too.

It's usually only rivalries between Microsoft and Sony; never between Microsoft and Nintendo, or Sony and Nintendo. Could this actually be a good sign?

The GC was a failure by most companies standards. Regardless, the buzz that the Wii has been generating is insane! This console will take off like none before it especially due to the 3rd party development and support.
And yes, the Wii not going head to head with the 360 a Ps3 is a GREAT sign. It is inb a class fo it's own and as I have read countless times, the Wii will be more of a secondary system to hardcore gamers and a primary system (due to cheap pricesw) for casual gamers. Nintendo hit a fucking gold mine here folks, as long as they play thier cards right and keep riding this massive wave of hype (for good reasons of course).

Yes. It slips into the second console category very nicely. While those two take pot shots at each other about power etc, people will pick between one of the two and then decide to get Wii as a good secondary console.

We live in New Jersey, the tolerance and thiinking power are down to bare minimums here for most kids.
