Well, I'm sorry if I made it seem like I was disparaging your post... I definitely was not. I love discussing games with whoever will listen, especially those who are as passion about gaming as I am, and I have enjoyed our discussion.
I love to play "devil's advocate"...it's part of my job, really. So I don't mean to be contrary just for the heck of it. And for that I apologize.
I am a life-long Nintendo fan, and I just have a bad feeling that this could hurt them like the Virtual Boy did - cool technology that people just didn't see a use for.
Granted, the Virtual Console seems like the biggest selling point to an old-school guy like me, and I hope they really play that up. If you can have the complete library of NES, SNES and N64 games at your disposal on the hard drive, I believe that will drive sales. I was actually expecting the original Legend of Zelda or some other classic already installed on the hard drive (does it use a HD...please excuse me for not knowing this).

^No, they opted to keep an HD out to keep costs down but you will be able to use very cheap SD cards. A 2gig card is only $40 now. I already have one and will be buying 1 or two more prior to picking up the Wii on launch.
BTW, if anyone needs cheap SD cards for their Wii, go to TigerDirect.com. $40 for a 2 Gig card is the cheapest I've seen it.

Gotcha! That's a smart move, because those SD cards are so cheap - I was just noticing today how cheap they are...
You can get a truckload of NES games on a 2 GB card!

SD Cards as the standard media for the Wii. I don't even think that the Wii has proprietary memory cards made for it. I know that the Wiimote actually has a bit of memory in it to transfer and store your Miis. Watch the press conference and you will understand everything.

Yup it's 20 minutes long but if you want know everything about the Wii and see it in action, it will give you a GREAT idea of what it is capable of out of the box.
