Wii Virtual Console prices confirmed!
So exactly how much will it cost you to download classic Nintendo games onto Wii?
15 retro Virtual Console games will be available from launch, ranging from 5-10 Euros (£4-8) [more images]Nintendo has officially hit us with details of its pricing structure for downloadable Virtual Console games, and fortunately your wallet won’t flinch at the news.
There’s a tiered payment system - an old-school NES game costs 5 Euros (£4), SNES games weigh in at 8 Euros (£6), and technically superior N64 titles come in at 10 Euros (£8). But to spice things up a little Nintendo is adopting a similar points system to that used on Xbox Live Marketplace where you buy and earn points that you can use to make online purchases. So, 5 Euros actually translates to 500 points. And you’ll be able to buy this credit in chunks, pay-as-you-go-style.
Plus, many of Nintendo’s retro titles like Super Mario 64 are receiving a 480p upgrade for Virtual Console, with 15 games available from day one in the UK. 5-10 new titles are promised each month, with the library of games expected to balloon rapidly in the New Year, bolstered by games from Sega and Hudson Soft.
^mmm not bad if you ask me
