My thoughts on the Wii and its future

This is an intelligent conversation that requires intelligent posts, please at least use good grammar (all of you).

It seems like what all of you are saying is that "Besides sales, popularity, and the innovation, the Wii isn't the best because I just don't like it as much as the others." This is about who is going to win this generation of video gaming, not what you prefer.

Personally, I think Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Virtual Console are enough to maintain the Wii as a valid video game system...just like Halo 3 and MGS4 will be for the other systems. You have to analyze these things and look at the future. Sure the Wii is outselling the 360 and PS3 month after month right now...but will it be another "GameCube flop" in half a year?

OR, you could consider the alternative. The 360 has been out twice as long as the Wii and it has almost been outsold by it already. How do you explain beating a 13 million unit selling status? By being a promising system. You walk on the street and ask the first 10 people you see between 12 and 25 and ask them which they'd rather play, Mario or Gears of War--guess what they'd say. Not only that, I've never heard of a Nintendo system having hardware failure (unless, of course, it was thrown around). Nintendo is a reliable name.

Consider those.

As we can see, your post was a very foolish sentiment. It has EASILY come close to the 360, and already surpassed the PS3 two-fold.

Ok, the wii has outsold ps3 and xbox 360 for every month so far since it launched and I believe finally the ps3 is outselling the 360 this month cuz of positive press and price cut and blue-ray (yay) and sales for ps3 will continue to rise once the awesome games come rolling out. I can't deny that wii is selling like drugs, but I just question whether it can last. You're right masta shake, this thread went from an intelligent arguement to a bashing thread.

Sony is kind of in mid-air right now. It has the chance of putting the other two in the dirt and leaving them there. However, this chance revolves around the success of blu-ray. Honestly, I have SERIOUS doubts people will pay $40 for a blu-ray movie over $20 for a HD-DVD. This is why I think sony will never get off the ground, Blu-Ray is NOT "the future" like they say it will be.

Xbox 360 will outsell the PS3 in the end for 2 reasons. #1 is LIVE. It cannot be beat and there is a chance of it being free in a few months as competition rises between them, Sony, and Nintendo. #2 is Madden, NHL, and Fifa. People will buy the Xbox for these games because thats what EA and other developers demo them on. I've never seen a Madden 07/08 demo on a PS3. Madden NFL is the #3 selling franchise of all time. College students want Madden, and they dont have the money to blow on a PS3. Xbox 360 will be their choice. I haven't even mentioned Halo.

I have a few new arguements for the Wii. First off, the system attracts girls. It's much more appealing to them because of the innovative controls, the nintendo games, and the "party appeal". I'm the only guy I know that has a Wii. I have 3 friends that are girls that have one and several others are considering it. For so long the gaming industry has been vastly male-dominated because of the sports, blood, and action games. This changes with the Wii. The guys and girls who aren't game fanatics, the ones who don't post of video game forums, these are the ones who will buy the Wii...and that crowd is considerably larger than us who are the opposite.

Just to reiterate, here are a few key words: Zelda, Brawl, Galaxy, Tiger Woods, cheap, DVD support coming soon, colors, mass appeal to all ages.

i got a Wii when it first came out and modded that sucker. I must say that it is a fun console, but for a short period of time. More of a family console. I rather lay down in bed and play games rather than swing the wiimote around all day. The graphics are not up to my standards

I respect the Wii for what it is, but it really doesn't suit my gaming tastes. I'm really into gaming online, it makes playing with busy friends much, much easier... on top of that it's adds a ton of replay value to almost every game. On the Wii online-supporting games are almost impossible to come by. Online gaming with the Wii is basically non-existant. Also, I'm a huge FPS fan, and those types of game just don't come around very often on the system.
After playing on the Wii, I think the fun of using the controller fades over a short period of time. Then all you're really left with is a bunch of mini-games until some of the better franchises are released (which still isn't saying much IMO). Oh and one more thing, although I'm not a graphics nit-picker, I have to say the Wii's graphical capabilities are just pitiful. Very last-gen, in fact, most titles don't even look as good as the majority of Gamecube games IMO.

The Wii is only selling so well because it really appeals to the casuals. I'm not saying that's bad, but it's the truth.
