Your Opinions on the Metroid Prime series.

ive just started playing Metriod prime one. im trying really hard to continue the game to be honest, not saying its a bad game, its just because of the fact that i switched from playing Nexxt gen, to last gen, and the visuals really puts me down, into continuing the game. and Metroid prime one gets really irritating, i get stuck in places very often . and people think that the backtracking in the HALO games was baad. OMG in Metroid, you backtrack Sooo much, you litterally memorize the envirnments too well.

my ultimate reaason for playing the first 2 metroid prime games ( i havent got to the second one yet.) is becus i dont wanna be losst when i get to theh 3rd one

so my question is ( to the people who have played all the games), is the first metroid games worth playing???? and is Metroid Prime 3 all that good as a Wii game?

I think the graphics are fine my initial complaint is the lack of strafing at will, but once you get use to that I think the game opens up. I'm in the same boat as you where I'm just starting it and I want to play through the first two before I move to 3. I don't think it's a FPS it's more of a First Person adventure game. It's a game that you have to be dedicated to, to fully get everything out of it. It's a compleatly different kind of game. Also point of note, I think Metroid is what Mass Effect was going for with the elevators and doors.

If you're not dedicated to it you start to forget where stuff is, and in turn it makes it more of a choir to play. After I finish Red Steel, and Shining Force 3, I'll probably get into it. Remember Metroid Prime {along with the original Halo} is the highest rated game between Zelda OoT and Mario Galaxy, it has a 9.7 at Meta.

...Have you played Resident Evil 4 on the Wii? It's greatness and you don't have to play a whole series to start it {you probably don’t with Metroid either, but I want to}.

Metroid Prime 1 and 2 play VERY differently from 3. I only touched MP1 and 2 a bit at my friend's house, but the controls seem awkward to anyone who is used to a dual-stick walk/aim system or a keyboard/mouse system. It doesn't have normal FPS-style controls, because it's designed more as an adventure than an FPS.

However, Metroid Prime 3 will feel right at home for those used to PC controls, and even those who use dual stick. You can move fowards, backwards, left, and right (sidestep) using the Nunchuk joystick, and you aim up/down/left/right using the Wiimote IR cursor (like a PC shooter where you use the mouse, but when you get near the edge of the screen, it rotates for you). It's kind of a combination between a mouse and a stick. Anyways, MP3:C (not to be confused with .mp3) is a great game, though I found the bosses hard even on easy difficulty, but then again I'm not that good at FPS games even though I love playing them. You do have to go back and forth a lot to find out where you're going, but that makes you explore the levels. I thought it was an incredible game, but still not my favorite.

EXACTLY! you just took those words from the back of my head!
yeah, i think that is my problem wit the MP series. at least the first 2. you acually have to me very deticated to the game. its not like it acually sucks you in the game, like how COD4, or Bioshock did. if a game is able to suck you in, or make you addicted to it, i find those games great.

But i still yet have to try the 3rd metroid prime. i know that the controls have a totally didferent feel to it, compared to the first 2 games. the first 2 games werent like a hardcore FPS, more like a FPS Adventure.

But what else is diiferent from the 3rd game and the first 2 games?

and no i havent played Resident Evil for the Wii. i always had an intent to try it out. how is it???? what game would you say its similar to?? and is it really that type of game that acually sucks you in???

Games that suck you in and make you sacrifice sleep to play; rarely does that happen to me...Resident Evil 4 is one of those games. A game that is similar to it would be Gears because it's a 3rd person shooter. If you read old Gears interviews they talk about being deeply influenced by RE4.

Basically you run around in third person, but you have to stop and aim to shoot, similar to holding the Left Trigger in Gears...except you stop.

The control scheme is perfect, you move with the nunchuck and aim with the Wiimote, it takes about an hour to adjust if you haven't played a similar control style, but once you get the feel you'll love it....My burden is that the Wife wants to be with me when I play it, but she can only look at it for so long because it makes her dizzy.
The controls are so fun for this game that if RE5 came out on the Wii and the 360 I would sacrifice graphics and achievement points to play the Wiimote version...It really sucks you in. My friend top 3 favorite games in no order are Halo, RE4 {GC}, and Madden...Because he put it that highly {he's 25 if that matters} is the reason I checked it out. It was game of the year in 04' you can find it for 22$, its 30$ new.

With that long rant aside, I'm sure Metroid Prime 3 has that ability also, with it's intuitive controls. Also one of the other main differences in MP3 that separate it from MP1&2 is that Samus talks, and there are other characters in the game that you interact with. With the first two Metroid Primes the story is told through the scanning of objects, with MP3 it has a narrative that guides you along.
