What do you normally tend to do first?

What do you do first while you are playing oblivion? For me, I try to get some money until I have around 1000 and then, I quickly do the kvatch mission and so I get a free horse. Afterwards, I get some blades armor (a good boost early on) and join the thieves guild so I can pay off my fines and sell stolen goods (I have 9 hours in my current new one and I have fenced over 2000), Then it's the mages guild for me so I can get the alchemy ingredients and sell all the books, ingredients and stuff to the stores. My alchemy is about 19 points higher than my second highest skill (restoration) because I usually just empty my stock of ingredients by brewing tons and tons of potions to sell to merchants. It's an excellent way to make money and increase your skills. Then I join fighters guild, cuz there's no harm in joining.

As for missions, I try to do some missions like the kvatch one, the two sides of the coin one, the rumare slaughterfish ones early on cuz it's good opportunities to get armor and the jewel of the rumare. I also get the house in anvil quickly. I have two more mage's recommendations to do before I get access to the arcane university to make my own spells. I tend to do the Dark brotherhood and main quest much much later since the rewards are better then and I don't want too much infamy. I go to the arena once in a while.

I only played once and still going with that character. I like doing the guilds first, because you can get some bad ass armor, weapons, spells, etc. If its something you don't want to use, then you can sell it to get a good amount of money too.

I'm on my third play through, and I usually do the guild that suits my character best first. For example this one I did the mages guild first, to get access to the altars. But the thieves guild is a must, I've always completed it near the beginning (except for my second game, where it glithched)

I am the same as Masta Shake, although I'm on my 8th time through. I do the guild that matches my character first, then go on from there.

Started a game with a new character (an orc). I did some fighters guild quests since that best fits him, and some stuff in the arena. Doing The Order of the Virtuous blood early is smart. I killed like 8 vampires and made 2000 gold just from that cave part of the quest. Going to hunt some vampires to make more money and improve my major skills next time I play.

with my first char I did the main quest first, but with my second the dark brotherhood, then the thieves guild, fighters, mages, knights and only then the main quest
