in this mission your suppose to cast the different spells , fire, frost, damage magicka, fortfiy magicka on the pillor in the right order to advance in the game. I dont understand what exactly im suppose to do. what is a pillar and how do i cast a spell on it? i tried pushing the button and casting but it doesn't work

pff, long time ago.. try the uesp wiki (just google uesp wiki), theyre bound to have the order

Everytime I throw a fireball at that pillar thing it doesn't do anything. What am i doing wrong? fire is the 1st cast to spell.

you have to use the spells on the pillar (big column in the middle of the room)

"As you cast each of the four spells in sequence (Fire Damage, Frost Damage, Damage Magicka, Fortify Magicka), portions of it lower to reveal a stairway."
