Orange Box- The most underrated game ever??
So recently my 360 broke, i then realised I had to have a game to play for the next two weeks until i got my xbox back and the only option was a PC game. Now what PC game would last me two weeks? I'd dabbled with Battlefield 2, FEAR (multiplayer) and even Gunz but i tired of strictly playing online. I missed a a truly enticing single player, having recently completed Bioshock, and i did some resarch into what be worth buying, and found Half-Life 2. Now being mainly a strict console gamer i'd never really played Half Life, i'd had a go on it occasionally around friends houses and had the typical reaction to it that most console gamers have- "Half Life 2? Isn't that that PC game which is meant to be quite good?". Well, i bought it anyway and i can honestly say its one of the greatest games I have ever played. I fought my way through the zombie infested Ravenholm and battled with towering mosnters biggger than houses. I was stunned by the facial realism of the characters even though the graphics are old and was amazed by the powerful phsyics engine as i fired explosve barrels at wooden barns and watched them splinter to thousands of pieces. Seriously, us console gamers don't know just how lucky we are that where finally getting this, and in one neat package. But the thing that amazes me is that no one (console gamers) knows about this! Yes, people on this forum might, seeing as forum members are generally more hardcore but i've spoke to endless friends who say they haven't heard of The Orange Box or Half Life and would rather be playing Rainbow Six or completeing Halo 3 for the umpteenth time. Whats more, Orange Box comes with ALOT of games, where talking Half Life 2, Episode 1, Episode 2, Portal, and Team Fortress 2. I mean, Team Fortress 2 on its own is worth the money you'd spend on the whole package! And portal, the ingenious puzzle game which will actually have you thinking about how to do a level as opposed to the linear FPS's we are used to.
I apologise for this post being so long and seeming like a rant but I am bored, and believe this is an issue that needs addressing. So when, The Orange Box hits the shelves on Oct 9th, i beg of you, don't turn a blind eye to it, buy it, tell all your friends to get and play it and you will see just why it is easily as good as Halo 3. As far as im concerned if you don't play this game, you're missing out on a major piece of gaming history, that has redefinied the FPS genre. The Orange Box; Valve have really outdone themselves this time.

I already preloaded orange box on PC, just waiting for 10th to be able to activate it. I'm mainly a PC gamer so i'm aware of the half-life series, which is a truly brilliant line of games.

Team Fortress 2! I absolutely cannot wait for it! I used to play the original Team Fortress for Quake 1. The most fun I ever had while playing an online FPS game. Used to play that shit back on Mplayer and Gamespy! Good 'ol days. I remember my old clan, Hell Xpress. Stayed together for 6 years.... *sighs* Ahhh, to be young again...

hmmm... I may get this then, i've known about it for a while, even though it hasn't been advertised much, but i know almost nothing about half life, from what I have seen though it just looks like a normal shooter, even though i doubt it is considering the good PC reviews it has had, so whats so good about it....?
May have to do a bit of research.

It's not getting the huge hype Halo 3 had because a lot of the stuff in the box have already been released on different consoles. The games received a ton of praise when they were new though.

Amazing physics that actually get used, stunning atmosphere and perfect level design, cleverly designed enemies, real looking graphics, fun weapons, hell, everything you look at is awesome in half-life 2!

I think he's saying its underrated for the xbox360, isnt he? Because if he's talking about PC as well, then ya you're completely right - The Half-Life series is one of the most popular for the PC.
But anyone who hasn't even heard of this game, Buy It! You wont be disappointed
