Even if it's just a brief visit. It'd be great! I wonder if they'll upgrade the Source engine or even make a new engine for any other Half-Life games after Episode 3.

Source is Valve's engine though. While HL3 wont have the same developers, Im sure they wont want to dump the Source engine for the HL series. I think source if pretty solid in terms of gameplay, I cant put my finger on what it is, but its clean and new looking engine while still feeling like the original half life gameplay - its great. They pulled it off so well.
At most Id say they will upgrade the source engine quite a bit for HL3. I wouldnt look forward to them scrapping it, especially since now they're starting to use it for other games to get the name going.
As for HL3, I dont think there'll be much chance at seeing Xen again. Its just the gateway to the univerise (supposedly a trainstation for universal travel), but with the rebels strong efforts to close portals to other worlds I dont think Gordon will be too hyped to use one.
After all, they just got the rocket launched to close the portal over (what was) City17...I dont really see any way they're going to have an opportunity to use one. Or why they would want to use them, since they know it was these portals that caused the whole mess on earth.
One possibility could be the G-Man teleporting you there, but even then theres no reason for you to be there really. I cant imagine any purpose for another trip to Xen.
I hope HL3 finishes Breen and answers a few more questions on the G-Man.
