Lmao, there was so much reason for the Combine Advisor to suck the brains out of Eli. He was one of the leading rebels to start with, and a huge enemy to both the combine and Breen who has already escaped them once thanks to Gordon. Im sure thats only the beginning, with the info Eli revealed about his relationship with the G-Man there might be so much more that makes him a primary target (or, that made him a primary target - rather).

Theres no reason to believe that this was created by Valve, I think the focus was supposed to be on models and weapons (which were clearly done by Valve), not the map itself.

I dont think Gordon will find the portal gun on the Borealis. And unless all the Aperture Science stations have linked databases, I dont think Gordon will find any info on portal gun on the Borealis. If he does find the actual gun, I think its going to be on land under a ton of rubble where one of the Aperture Science labs was destroyed. Otherwise they will just use portal information found on the Borealis to help deepen the story, but we may not actually see the portal gun in Ep3 (Valve did say they want to keep it out of HL, even if its in the same universe - then again that was a while ago).
My main wish is for a conclusion with the G-Man story. I want to know what he's been up to, his relation to Gordon, and what he's going to do...even what exactly he does and who he works for (if anyone). Although they may not give all the answers since they plan on having a Half-Life 3 (which wont be by the same development team apparently).
Whats important about the Borealis ship is that it contains advanced portal technology which is what both the rebels and the combine are striving to obtain. If the rebels gain this technology before the combine they have a high probability of winning the war.
The rebels are already in the process of making superior portal technology, with the work of Aperture Science they could be even better off. Aperture Science (as Im sure you know) was Black Mesa's top competitor, and before disappearing were on top of their game and ahead of Black Mesa in terms of portal technology. So the discovery of this ship could spin the combine on their heads.
