Why is it called The Orange Box and...
Hmm, do the producers like the colour orange, or like oranges?
Or.... is it sponsored by Orange?
Also, is this game any good, I was thinking of chooseing between AC and Bioshock but they both look repititive. What's this one like is comparison to the other two?
Cheers

Well, originally they intended to release "The Black Box" and "The Orange Box". The Black Box would have just the new releases (HL2: Ep2, Portal, TF2) while the Orange Box would be a complete package (HL2, HL2 Ep1, HL2 Ep2, Portal, TF2), there was a small price difference but they decided to dump the Black Box and focus on the Orange Box (I believe making it cheaper - providing the full experience of Half Life2 in the process, a better choice in my opinion because now everybody will be up to speed with HL).
As for their choice of Orange, Valve has always sported the color orange. It has always been the color of their logo and its also the color of the lambda symbol in the HL series. Its a perfect color to make their perfect package.
As for The Orange Box itself - I think everyone should own it. Its really a steal. Around $10 a game is nothing. Also in my opinion HL is the greatest story ever. You're in for an amazing experience if you pick this package up. TF2 is, in my opinion, an improved version of the best multiplayer team-based game ever made. HL story will really grab you. And Portal is just stunning in itself (plus it adds to the HL story).
BioShock is a great story, but Half Life is even better and should be experienced by every gamer. Its the game that set the bar for gaming in a number of ways.
Pick up and try Half-Life before you bother with BioShock or AC. You'll find something you like in this package.
Then again, if you're a run'n'gun gamer (and dont care for story at all) its debatable. The story in HL is the greatest part, ontop of its flawless gameplay

Bioshock is the least repetetive game out there. Unless holding a gun counts as repetetive, then its not repetetive at all. Sure the setting is underwater but there's so many areas down there; a hospital, a massive garden place; it's immense. Get Bioshock.

Get the Orange Box - AC is stupidly repetative. Orange Box has loads to offer - Portal is great fun and totally unique to anything on the 360, Im half way through Half Life 2 and the game and the story are really good.
Maybe its called the Orange Box for no other reason that its a bit random?

Cool thanks for the replys.
w00ties - Thanks for clearing up the Orange Box title thing. I like a good story in a game but I also like to shoot a load of bad guys. Hence the reason I loved COD4 so much. I think you've persuaded me (if I wasn't persuaded already) to go with The Orange Box.
Caael - Although i have no expirence of playing BioShock, the reason i think it's repititive is because the things you do in the game all look the same. Like, visit a new room, pick up a plasmid, kill a splicer, watch a robot put a girl in a tube.
I'll probs rent it and AC one day. Or buy when price lowers.
Thing is I'm not actually buying Orange Box, my 360 got RROD and I'll take it back to the store and try and squeeze a game out of them!
Thanks again!

1/10 for humour and ingenuity
Anywho, TOB is much better than Assassins Creed, and it's better than Bioshock because of how much you get- all 5 games are superb.

No Problem
As for the number of bad guys to shoot - dont worry! You'll have plenty of enemies of all types coming at you throughout Half-Life (And just you wait for Ravenholm, you'll have loads of fun with the 'Zero Point Energy Field Manipulator' )
Even if you cant get a free game out of the RRoD issue, this is still definately worth buying. As for BioShock, dont knock it quite yet. At least rent it - you might be impressed
I can see where you're coming from on the BioShock issue, but if you like a good story and setting this is great. Also theres new types of splicers on every level, a new way to kill them, and something new to do. The story also keeps it really interesting.
BioShock is second to Half-Life on my list of interesting game stories
