Am I screwed?
Half Life 2 -
I'm on Water Hazard. On the part with the wall of fire I assumed I couldn't get the boat through, so I ditched it and continued on. I got to the part where you open the gate, which I did successfully, but there is a chopper after me and I can't get through in time before getting killed. I figured I needed the boat to go faster, but I can't get that back because as soon as I try to go get it I also get killed. Do I have to start all over?

yeah i think you do need the boat but im no half life 2 expert so you should get a second opinion.
btw im warning you right now there is a tough part coming up very shortly. basically you're trying to shoot down 1 or 2 helicopters (i think thats the objective  ) 1 at a time while its droping bombs/mines on you. IT SUCKS! i hate helicopters!
look at it this way you know exactly what to do your second time around

Dude,if you are where I think you are then, to take down the chopper, you have to use the turret, which should be somewhere near where you opened the gate. Then see if you can return to your boat, because you definitely need it.

I looked and there is no turret. I'm at the little base after the one you are thinking of. With the huge tub boat in the harbor. Is there any other way to take down a helicopter? I emptied all of my ammo on it and the damn thing was still flying?

Hi upinthe - I think I remember where you are at, and yes you will need to start again. Even if you can get past the chopper you are doomed because you need the boat to get past the mounted turrets that are a little further ahead (if memory serves me correctly). Start again bruvver, even though it may seem like a long slog, it will be worth it in the end!

its probably possible without the boat, but would require huuuuge effort and ammo conservation etc. really not worth it. reload and get the boat back
also there is a mini base where you get a gun attached to your boat, unsure what will happen there if you don't have the boat.

yea i dunno if its possible to take the chopper down without the turret, youll need the boat again anyways

Even if you take down the chopper, you still deed the boat to jump through the dam. Go get the boat.

Yes! I made it! I got the boat and then plowed past the chopper. Then I took it slowly for the rest of the way. That chapter was way too long...one of the worst vehicle sequences I've ever played in a game.  |
