How does the Stats Leaderboard work?

Hey. I'm having a bit of trouble understanding how the stats leaderboard works.

When I first looked at it, I figured that it just took your best score from each category (kills in one life, destruction in one life, teleports in one life etc), and added them up to give a final score (with exceptions when it comes to healing and damage where the scores are more likely to be in the hundreds or thousands).

Anyway. I looked a few days ago and saw that my score was currently at 57. It didn't seem bad to me, but my rank was like 10,000, which indicated that it probably wasn't that great.

2 days ago, I absolutely destroyed my kills record (from 21 to 34), as well as my dominations record and my teleports record. I looked on the leaderboard after each one to find that my score was still set at 57. In the end I just figured that the leaderboard was a bit slow to update, which is annoying, but fair enough I guess.

But it's been 2 days now, and it's still set at 57. Furthermore, I've noticed that I've got higher stats in everything than almost all the people immediately above me.

It's not a huge issue to me obviously, but it just seems a bit strange. Anyone know how these scores actually work? Or is it just a fuck up with the scores.

Hi Martino,

I play TF2 a lot and I am guessing that your score of 57 isn't updating due to the fact that (this is what I think) you got the score of 57 in a 'Ranked' match and not a 'Player Match' (Unranked). You could get scores of 100+ in Player Matches, and because these matches aren't Ranked it means that they won't save as your new highest score.

This seems to be the logical solution to your problem. To test this play Ranked games only and see if/when you beat 57 the scores are saved at your new score.

Hope this helps,

Peace Out.

I appreciate the help, but that wasn't the case

I've figured it out now so I'll post it here for future reference.

The RANKED Leaderboard is a pretty simple concept. Basically it takes the highest score you've ever got in an entire ranked match. Doesn't matter how you got those points, doesn't matter how many times you died, doesn't matter how many opponents you have. It registers the amount of points you have after the end of a ranked match.

The STATS Leaderboard is exactly the same, but only registers scores from Player Matches. So, if I managed to score 300 points in a player match (it doesn't matter how many rounds there are), then 300 will be the amount shown on the Stats Leaderboard (unless you've scored higher).
