PS2 cables which is better

What cables are better for the ps2?I played resident evil 4 with it hooked up by composite cable and it looks like ass.
I looked it up on google and some people say s-video is clearer then a compnent cable.It makes no sense to me how component isn't superior here in terms of quality.
I have a slim ps2 with the standard cable hooked up (composite) and the picture is bad.I have it hooked up to a 32inch olevia lcd tv.I just want a smooth picture.I know this isn;t a ps3 or 360 which have excellent picture.
I dont even know what res a ps2 supports so please help me out

PS2 games do look like ass on new TVs.

They're scaled up from what ever the old resolution was (640x480 i think) and knocks them all out of whack.

Up scaling on the PS3 looks alot nicer.

yeah I would hope a ps3 looks better.
I wonder why original xbox looks good pn lcd but ps2 doesn't.

no-one else has any input.
The only thing I found was a dvd disc but I dont trust it.
