Most RPG storylines are amazing. Take Zelda: Twilight Princess for example, great story, long, long as hell, many things to collect, and good luck beating it.

Why do people like Kool-Aid? Why do people like green jello? Why ask why? Instead just try!!!

Ya that was gay. Just play an RPG and you will get your answer. You will either like or you wont. Some actually like to get more than 8hrs out of a game that costs $60.

I love RPG's because of the story. The games make you actully feel like your the character and not just playing a game. And the fact that you can customize your character which means you can beat the game multiple times and still have a different character or in some games a different story all together.

Simple question.
When was the last time you read a book?
I don't mean a comic or graphic novel, I mean an actual, bonafide book of over 100 pages?
If it was years ago or never than yes, this is why you hate rpgs.
If you do enjoy reading then maybe it is more of a fact that you need to find an rpg with a story that excites you?

RPG... def. story line and character development.... it's like playing through a long movie (FF series).

Besides, I love leveling up and getting items etc.

RPG's are the best genre of games there is. They are always long, have great stories, and can convince you that you in the story not just playing the game. That's way they are the best.

Hell I haven't read a book since I was in high school (graduated 2004). Yet, I LOVE RPG's. There's just more to them than just "run 'n' gun". Level up, collect items, as you progress you meet new people you can change out with your party, you need good strategy, etc. They're more laid-back than a FPS game as well.

I never really liked Oblivion. Too much of an open world with NPCs that won't tell you much. I may give it another try. But after playing FFXI, I'm more partial to MMORPGs as well, having real people to talk to, and party with, do quests, missions with, etc.

Just really depends on your style. Mass Effect is a really good one right now. Big hit. Final Fantasy series (try VII-IX) on Playstation. Enchanted Arms is kinda cheesy but really fun. Bad voice-acting. Just depends on your taste.

I play RPG's because it takes you away from the real world! They have a story that no other game type can match, They have characters that you can appreciate & involve yourself in, that no other game type can offer!
I prefer eastern RPG's like the final fantasy series FF7 being my all time fav! But Some western RPGs like oblivion are so good its hard to explain unless you play it! Saying that, they are not for everyone & it doesnt matter how good a RPG can be some people might just hate them. For instance FABLE was a massive hit But i just couldnt get into it, It bored me silly!
