Any defenders of the first person perspective out there?

cover system= good
third person= Bad

I enjoy first person over third person. But games like GOW and Uncharted wouldnt be as great if they were first person. A few games can pull it off nicely. GRAW definately should have been a FPS in my opinion.

Hard to choose really. Third person usually works well for more strategic games like gears of war, because you can get a wider view of where people are (Like in Gears)
And First person is usually for fast shooters like Halo 3 and CoD 4, where you can turn and shoot quickly but also get surprised when someone hits you in the back.

I like both shooters about the same fps and tps. I am in love so much with army of two right now though. I like being able to see my character interact with the enviroment. I'm also working on the original rb6 vegas and that is just as fun but a little harder for me personally.

I usually always hate FPS but I love TPS. The only FPS I have ever actually liked was Bioshock, and that was just a demo. And before the flame comes about me not liking CoD4, I have never played CoD4. Only CoD game I have played was the demo for CoD2 and thought it was terrible.

both are good at diff things. FPS is more realistic and really puts you in place of being that character. I love that aspec of them. TPS allows other interesting things. For example the cover system in GOW. That is of course very unrealistac because you can see over the wall but your character cant detatching you from really getting into being your character.
RB6 vagas did a good combo of the 2 but i would say fps is my fav. WIth games like bio-shock, COD4 and halflife 2 the story is really brought to life by the fact that you feel you are the character you are controlling. FPS's tend to feel a lot more fluid as well. As for the you can see more in TPS i find it an odd argument. Sure you can see if someone is directly behind you and you ge ta wider field of vision but its really hard to get a camera angle where your character never gets in the way in some manner.

First person shooters are better in my opinion because you feel more apart of the game

I prefer FPS, TPS I find difficult to control as it is an unusual perspective to have IMO. FPS are alot easier to control as the perspective is what you use in your life.
