Splitscreen games with co-op mode!

I've started to love playing different shooter games in splitscreen mode with my friends, and especially CO-OPERATIVE with a story (the campaign). Here are something I've tried or might be trying:

Army of Two
- much fun with a friend
- the campaign is too short

Rainbow Six Las Vegas 2
- a bit difficult (too realistic? )

Gears of War
- just didn't work very well for us... didn't like the sounds and the graphics (especially blood) and the feel of it

Dark Point Zero
- "ok" but a bit frustrating

Kane and Lynch
- I've purchased it but not played it

Halo 3
- Planning to get it, I understand it has co-op story?

These I'm interested in:

Ghost recon 2: advanced war fighter
- does it have co-op campaign mode?

Call of duty 4
- I think it has no co-op campaign mode?

So, anything else? You know any other good shooter games with splitsreen and campaign mode?

Army of Two is the best of all the above for multiplayer, it is unrivalled in the way it makes you work together. I'll agree with you on Gears, it's a half decent game but more of a pain than enjoyable!

Kane & Lynch has a pretty good co-op mode but the game is as short as Army of Two so that's a mite disappointing. Halo 3 follows the same story on co-op as in single player, the only difference is that player 2 is the Arbiter so you always have back-up.

The Ghost Recon series in my opinion was ruined as soon as No.2 came out, the first lot were great games but from 2 onwards it's not fun anymore. COD4 has no co-op at all but does have arguably the best story line of an FPS since the Halo series and it's quite long too.

I agree. Ao2 was phenomenal for coop we had a blast. as was kane and lynch.

Gears gives me motion sickness, i dont know why. and ghost recon. I was very dissapointed. you dont even get to see your gun in coop. and the AI wasnt the greatest. very dissapointing. Halo 3 camp is great.

Halo 3 you can have up to 4 player co-op online or off. COD4 has a great campaign and I honestly think it would have been even better with 2-4 player co-op.

Of course you can always go old school with some of the classic games on marketplace. Marathon, Doom, etc. and don't forget some of the sidescrollers like Contra.

What do you mean you didnt like gears of war?!?!

Gears has phenomenal co op online and off.....its completley leet.

It really sucks that there aren't that many good co-op (with splitscreen) games anymore...

Army of two really rocked. It had its problems, oh yeah, but it was very much fun. We have played the whole campaing through at all three difficulty levels with my friend...

Gears of war hmm... I hated the feel of the guns and shooting. It felt lame? I don't know how to describe. Also the blood (graphically) sucked...
These might sound like minor points, lol, I know that. But there was something else and I don't know what it is. We played this game for about 30-45minutes with my friend and after that both just agreed: "neh, let's try something else". It didn't feel like it was worth it.

Next we'll try Kane&Lynch and then Halo 3.

It's quite refreshing to talk to people that share my opinions! We can only hope that members of the Microsoft team and other game companies have the common sence to check sites like this and see just what we the customers actually want!

In reply to Phobos: I have never played Hal Life and don't plan to, it doesn't grab my interest at all so I wouldn't consider it when deciding what games I prefer.

This thread is great. I've been looking for some games with local co-op to play with my brother. I totally forgot Gears of War has offline co-op! I'll probably check that out after we finish with Halo 3.
