Eh, the game comes bundled with a choice of wired or wireless guitar. I wouldn't see why it wouldn't work with GHII if the inverse works.

I heard wal mart is selling GH2 controllers with GH3... I got a wired Xplorer one. Is that the same one as GH2?

I'll be getting this game tomorrow, as long as my car gets running! I think I will hold off on the guitar purchase, as I can still use my gh2 one. But when Rockband comes out, I will buy that guitar since it was the extra special solo buttons. Rock on.

i got it today. the characters and stages are all shit compared to GH2, but the game more than compensates for that with the AWESOME gibson guitar that is without any of the problems with the x-plorer. i mean, it is 100X better, the x-plorer is shit compared to this.
oh and having lots of original studio recordings makes a huge difference as well. and let's not forget battle mode and xbox live. so yeah... i don't mind looking at hideous robotic characters in exchange for all these wonderful things.

i never played gh either except for the demo with a regular controller and it is still pretty good. Is it easier with the guitar controller though because i have a hard time with hiting the wrong buttons every now and then.
