software sales will follow, i really believe a whole lot more people than we think would love to have a ps3 including other console fanboys and now is the time it is going to happen.

Exactly. Not everyone can afford to pick up a $299 system and a $60 game. Most people will pick up the console and then head over to a rental place to test out a few games.

When I first got my PlayStation 2, I didn't buy any games with it. I rented games first because I was like 13 years old and didn't have the expendable income to just buy games I didn't know were good or not.

Deduction skills? You mean math, right? You arent impressing nobody with bigger words dude.

You dont know me at all, I've been toying with the idea of buying a ps3 for the launch of GT5 for a while now and have been checking out retailers for the best part of 2 hours today. Now why would a fanboy be thinking of buying a product of the opposition?

I dont know how much sony software sells per week and to be honest I dont care, the numbers didnt seem right to me. Theres no need to throw your toys out the pram.

Now you think we can stop with the flaming?

If you want to incite the bullshit, then open your mouth up and feel free to take it in. If you don't want it, then don't be a tool about things and try to incite shit for no reason.

And I meant deduction skills, because that's the type of skill it takes to come to that realization.

I don't see why meatball is getting yelled at exactly. The PS3 can be used as a Blu-Ray player so I'd expect a lot of people to pick it up for that reason and get games slowly for it. We all expected a sales spike with the price drop and know these current sales trends will not last forever once the market becomes saturated.

Lastly, the Wii statistic. 17,000 people seem to be an awfully small sample size of the total number of Wii sales in the US.

Just my two cents.

While I do agree with that, I have to say that the Wii in my house IS the least played. Largely due to the fact that you can't really do anything with it other than gaming. My PS3 is on all the time because I can watch DVD/Blu Ray on it, I stream my music through it and those are things that aren't easily doable with the Wii. (I do have mine modded to play movies, but since I only have composite cables, so everything looks meh)

It's good to see the sales spike in the PS3's though, regardless of how many new games are being bought. This price drop puts the PS3 at a price point it should have been at a year ago.

I see nothing wrong with the statement that the wii on average is less played than the ps3 and xbox 360. It offers online that isn't even comparable to the experiences on ps3/360 and the console is obviously catered towards the casual gamers who only play wii sports once in a while for shits and giggles. You won't find people playing their wii daily for hardcore purposes very often. Now I bet there are some people out there who still play mario kart or Super Smash obsessively, but common sense should be enough to know that on average the wii is played much less.

And as for ps3 game sales only going up %17. People could also be buying used games instead. When I bought my 60gb ps3 on sale for $480 (it was $600 at the time), I bought two used games and didn't buy any new games for 6 months until fall and the holidays. In total I think I have only bought maybe 15 new ps3 games and 10 of them were sold off. The software sales will come, so no need to be alarmed.
