High probability the PS3 will fail
Found this on Gamespot uk in the news...
Quote:
Nolan Bushnell disses PS3, Sony
Atari founder tells Red Herring that he thinks Sony has "shot themselves in the foot" and is "arrogant and capricious."

Hot on the heels of a profit nosedive and a slashing of Japanese PlayStation 3 launch numbers, Sony has been dealt another blow--a thumbs-down from gaming guru Nolan Bushnell.
The industry veteran, who founded Atari back in 1971 along with Ted Dabney, has given Red Herring his personal opinion on the way the next-gen console war will play out. He's "curious" about the Wii, likes the Xbox 360, and has a few choice words to say about the PlayStation 3.
Bushnell called Sony "arrogant and capricious" in the interview. "I think Sony shot themselves in the foot... There is a high probability [the PS3] will fail. The price point is probably unsustainable," he said, referring to the $499 and $599 sticker prices of the system. "For years and years Sony has been a very difficult company to deal with from a developer standpoint... They have also historically had horrible software tools."
Other points of interest from the interview included his statement that Atari was now a shadow of its former self, and had no "meaningful" part in today's gaming world. The Atari name, once synonymous with the revolution in home gaming, was adopted by French company Infogrames in 2003.
Bushnell has founded more than 20 different companies throughout his career, and his latest business venture is the uWink Media Bistro in Woodland Hills, California, a restaurant where you can play video games at your table.

ok think of it this way.
EA buys up the NFL rights so no one else can make the game.... bad for gaming as EA now has no challengers for an NFL game so they can just churn out the same old shit.
Sony fails and decides they can't risk making another console, leaving M$ as the leader and only main game console maker meaning that there not being challenged so they don't need to work as hard so there's more chance of them just churning out the same old shit.
it's always best to have a number of people battling for the same thing or else it just goes stale

Ah I see your point but you still have Nintendo.. the reason SEGA stopped makin the consoles (even though the dreamcast was superior to the ps2 imo) is because no one backed it.

yeah but nintendo aint really next gen is it so it's not gonna be pushing M$ as much as sony do.
sony basically did the same as M$ and bullied out the competition because they could afford to take the hit. now they can't. tv and hi fi sales are down and i doubt many people will be after a ps2 anymore with the 360 out.
i just hope it doesnt fail and that there challenging to get the #1 console tag back off M$ in a few years.

yeah but that will be a rip off. they should just do it so you can use a usb HDD so then for the price of the shitty 12gb hdd you could get a 250gb usb hdd.
