If you don't understand why PS3 costs 600$, you're an idiot. Is it too hard to understand that XBOX with an HD-DVD players also costs 600$ (400$ + 200$ = 600$)? PS3 just gives you more features instead of selling them seperately like Xbox. If you play games in HD, but don't watch DVD's in HD, you're an idiot.

P.S. I played Xbox360 at bestbuy and it froze all the time as well. They tend to do that when you people play it 12 hours a day, every day

having them seperate units is the best thing tho.. since the blue-ray is causing them the most problems, it would have been better for them to have it as a seperate add-on. because when your blue-ray breaks (its a cheap blue-ray player anyway) your gonna need to buy another ps3 = 600 bucks instead of 200 is your HDDVD broke..

Seperating them is not the best thing because it does not allow you to make games in HD-DVD or Blue-Ray formats that hold 30-50 gigs of data. One device is always better than two for numerous reasons like: less cables, less space needed, looks better, etc.

There is no evidence to suggest that blue-ray players are unreliable and prone to breakage, this is yet to be seen. And 360 owners shouldn't even talk about reliability of other consoles when so many 360's are defective and have to be replaced. Will PS3's suffer similar fate? Maybe. Maybe not.

you can still make games in HDDVD format when its just an add-on. thats what i heard xbox might do, just make the games in that format so that you will play it in the HDDVD drive. and for ps3's sake, if the blueray is causing you so much trouble then they should have made it an add-on, because like i said, i dought people want to pay 600 for another console when they can just buy the add on for 1/3 the price. and who really gives a shit about if it looks better, i think the add-on HDVD drive looks amazing wit the 360

Blu-ray isnt causing any technical problems, just manufacturing problems which seem to be resolved. Remember there is a $500 version as well.

Blu-ray production is,IS causing problems with ps3, if it weren`t for the blu-ray the ps3 would be competing better right now! if the console is held up for the production problems of blu-ray, then YES, blu-ray is the problem!
