Cost: Microsoft 360 Elite vs. Sony PS3

Because, they can continue to sell their overpriced adapter for $99. That is a cash cow for Microsoft. Not too many people wired their entire house for Ethernet like I did, so it's inconvenient to run wire. I have wire in almost every room, so I don't care about wireless...but I'm sure a lot of people do care.

Plus, if they would have included the wireless adapter, that would have driven up the price of the Elite and they want to remain cheaper than the PS3 to continue to get sales from people who think the PS3 price is too steep.

Ok, well throw out the HDMI then...that is something that is not needed to play, but something like wifi is necessary to play online if you hate wires everywhere.

Microsoft is just trying to milk the consumer, which is smart for them, but it sucks AS the consumer. The HDD is sold separately, a wireless adapter is sold separately, an HD-DVD drive is sold separately...its bullshit. That is one reason why I like the PS3, because they give you stuff you want all in one. People complain about the price, but you get all the features. If you take the 360 or elite or whatever, and throw in all of the add-ons it will cost in the same neighborhood as the PS3, but some things are over priced, so that shouldn't be. If they included it into the elite it would be cheaper than with having to buy it afterwards, or am I wrong? People are just looking at the out of the box price of it though. Yeah, it makes it so everything is optional, but sometimes it gets ridiculous. No wifi is retarded. I'd imagine that at least 80% of people want it. And a good amount of people don't give a rat's ass about the HDMI.

The PS3 isn't overpriced, you get what you pay for. It should actually cost more than it does. Sony hopes that it will pay off in the end.

Yes, but if you don't want or need the features, you cannot buy a PS3 without those features...thus you are spending money for things you don't want/need and some people don't want to do that.

The elite is a pretty good deal actually. If you buy a current premium for $399 and then the 120GB drive for $189, it would come out to $589...but the Elite is going to sell for $479. So, it is cheaper bundled together. Not to mention, you also get HDMI outputs and an HDMI cable for that $79 price.

I agree, but with the stipulation that you want/need everything that it comes with. If you don't need those things, maybe a $299 core Xbox360 would be a better fit, thus in their eyes making the PS3 overpriced. All I am saying is that it purely depends upon your needs and how you look at it (glass half empty or half full...neither is right in every case, for every person)
