The Official Socom Confrontation Thread-Releases 9/16

I think this game deserves a lot of attention. Socom 2 was the best online game I've ever played, even better than Halo or COD. A lot of people never played Socom because it wasn't hyped up like other games, but Socom 1 and 2 were really fun online games.

Socom 3 was a disappointment to most people who played the older Socoms, the maps were way too big and addition of vehicles ruined the game.

This game according to the developers, is going to be made more like the older Socoms and they are trying to please all the fans. I should note that this game is being developed by a diff company than the company who developed the original games. The company that is developing this game is Slant Six, the company that made the original games was Zipper. I think Zipper is still helping out though.

They have put up a website: SOCOM.com - PS3 - Screenshots, Videos, Game Features, Forums, Message Boards

They post blog updates about the game and read and respond to fan's comments. If this game is anything like the originals (Socom 1/2), it is going to be a blast to play online.

Socom 1 and especially 2, is also the best online game, I have EVER played.

Wow, It's so amazing. And it was on the PS2.

The mic system, the maps, the gameplay, the lobby system, it was all just so fantastic, so incredibly ahead of its time, and still ahead of the current time, simply fantastic.

To this day I'll still pop in Socom II and play with some buddies. Absolutely amazing and from what I've read about confrontation, should be more of the same! Which usually is a bad thing, but Thank God for it this time. They said they'll have new controls but you'll also be able to switch back to socom II controls whenever you want. I can't wait for this game. Good times to be had by all.

I have never really liked the Socom series...But this one looks gorgeous. I will definitely be trying this out in the fall.

Socom II was the BEST GAME I have ever played. seriously, I was one of those losers who was addicted to it. I'd come home from school and play it forever. I still do like Chuck, and play it every so often. You don't get the code9ers as often as before, but it's still fun. Those were the best days of my gaming "career" This game does look amazing. I'm not a huge fan of the OTS view, but I believe they are adding the "Classic" Socom 3rd person view. Dan I do totally agree with you too. The Lobby system was one of my favorite things about the game. It made it so easy to find friends, and to just build a tight community. If I ever wanted someone who I was familiar with, and had a bond to play with, I'd know right where to find them. I hate online games with their matchmaking systems today. I've been anticipating this game ever since Socom 3 came out, and I knew that Sony was making a PS3. I really can't wait for this one. I'm more excited for this than I am GTA4.
