MGS5 already being hinted?
Konami Already Hinting at Metal Gear Solid 5? news from 1UP.com
Quote:
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is set to make its worldwide debut on June 12, but are Konami and Kojima Productions already hinting at the next franchise iteration?
Tuesday's Metal Gear Solid 4 press event in Tokyo's Roppongi Hills concluded with an audio clip of a phone conversation between franchise foe Revolver Ocelot and an unknown character, with only Ocelot's side of the conversation presented in the clip (with subtitles shown on the screen). Mark MacDonald, our man at the event, translated the subtitles to English (emphasis ours):
[Ocelot's voice]
Yes.
We just finished the press conference.
Yes.
Everything went according to plan.
Yes.
We're entering into the last phase of the mission.
Do you want to execute the launch-day surprise?
Yes, that's right.
Akihabara, New York, L.A....
Live, simultaneously throughout the world....
Yes, it's under control.
The VIPs are happy to participate.
Yeah, that's right.
That person.
Yes, sir, understood.
So on June 12th...
By the way, what should we do about "The Project"?
Yes, that's correct.
That man has fallen.
It's about the sequel.
Yes, indeed.
Yes.
Yes.
Yeah.
I see.
Yes, sir.
Mr. CEO.
Early word of the next franchise extension? A deliberate trick? (Something else entirely?) We don't know for sure quite yet, though it's likely that the conversation partly refers to the planned launch events and creator Hideo Kojima's world tour, both of which were discussed at the event. As for the rest -- well, we'll likely find out when Kojima is ready to tell us. Let us know what you think in the comments.

Hideo has been noted on saying he needs Snake to "Die" - Not in game, but literally, he is sick of making them.
He said if they make another one, he will not be lead designer, but instead, a lower role.

Snake in MGS2 too.
I want this to be the end of the saga which one of the first reviews have said it is by providing total closure.

More Metal Gear Coming?
New chapters could be coming once MGS4 launches.
by Jeff Haynes
May 20, 2008 - For months now, everyone has been told that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots would be the final chapter in the Metal Gear Saga. Wrapping up more than twenty years of the Metal Gear mythology, MGS4 is the culmination of the franchise. Or is it? According to an interview with Associate Producer Ryan Payton on MTV's Multiplayer blog, there will be more for fans to get into in the future.
According to Payton, "I think there's been some misconceptions that this is the last 'Metal Gear.' This is really just the last chapter of the saga of the Solid Snake Story." While Payton doesn't mention what direction the series could take without its iconic character, it does add some additional validity to an interview we did with Hideo Kojima where he mentioned having different ideas related to the Metal Gear universe that may or may not include Snake.
The MTV interview goes on to speak about the inclusion of Altair's Assassin's Creed garb within the game and how unusual its inclusion was within the title. "The 'Assassin's Creed' costume was one of the last things we put in the game," Payton said. "It was kind of a last minute thing [and] we were really lucky enough to have Ubisoft be so enthusiastic about this kind of cooperation. They worked overtime to get that costume into the game."
As for wondering about the overall vision of the series and where Kojima goes from here, Payton brings up a familiar statement for those players that have been following the title, which is that it brings the entire series to a close. "[Solid Snake] was a burden [for Kojima] because of all those loose ends," said Payton. "So when you play 'Metal Gear Solid 4' and when you get to the end, I think you're going to feel that 'wow, this is a nice closure.' All of the weird stuff that's gone on in the past, it's all coming to an end. All those weird questions — everything is answered."

Read the bold. This may be the end of Snake's saga. But there is still Raiden's story. As long as he doesn't die in MGS4(based on the trailers we saw and that kickass fight scene with Vamp, I don't think he will) then I don't see how they can't make another one. In an interview I watched at Gametrailers, com, Hideo said that he originally wanted the younger staff of Konami to work on MGS4, but they all came to him and beg him to take lead. But like Dan said, I think he will step down and allow the younger staff to make the next one. THERE MUST BE MORE!

Like I said, this will be the last conventional MGS. There will not be another one with Snake in.
IGN: MGS4 Hideo Kojima Interview
Hideo Kojima wants, needs Snake to die - PS3 Fanboy
His exact quote.
Quote:
So I have to say, 'Die, Snake,' and really end it so I can move on to something else! (laughs) Actually, it's a game, so even if Snake dies, the game can live on. We have to kill him at a certain point.
--
IGN: That actually brings up one important question: You've expanded on the series with Metal Gear: Ac!d, Portable Ops, the Digital Graphic Novel. I was wondering if you had any plans for other earlier tales for Snake or Raiden. Perhaps even some of the earlier adventures of Snake's career?
--
Actually, yes, to answer your question directly. But I can't say if it's going to be a game. Maybe it'll be a novel or a comic – I do have some ideas. However, I have to say that I'm not going to do everything if we were to create it. Maybe I'll just produce or maybe design the game and just act on that role, so I won't be the total creator of that series if it happens.
