I beg to differ on that. It wasn't till the third revision the PS2s stopped having issues, and even then it was like pulling teeth to get replacements from Sony.

Thus there were lots of class action lawsuits.

I don't know where you are located, but in the US it was EXTREMELY hard to get PS2s replaced. At the beginning, you were screwed if you didn't have a 3rd party warranty, much like the RRoD. Hence like mentioned above there were lawsuits due to massive amounts of broken consoles.


What matters it that both companies are stepping up to the plate to replace broken consoles at not extra cost to the consumer, so all in all it's rather trivial anymore.

I was lucky because mine didn't get affected. The in-game XMB didn't even really work for me though it was weird but when I got 2.41 it started to work....
