Personally I think if this were true (I don't, and it's not true) they would announce it at a much bigger stage. Maybe E3 if it exists next year and further on.

Ya but wouldnt you think that any new reguarding Final Fantasy VII would be big enough to announce at E3? Its already confirmed that there is big news. No matter what it is they have a date set to announce this. E3 or not..

That's kinda what I was saying, the news of an FF7 remake is huge and therefore should be announced at the end of a Sony press conference at a future E3 or and event of that magnitude.
The 2nd part of your post is misleading, they have a set date for the Advent Children Complete Blu-Ray. It's not like they set a date just for the "announcement", its the release date of the movie.
