MW2 is releasing this fall i think and Activision said they'd drop Sony in 2010.

Yeah but they just said that they are losing profit on PS 3, so if they move toward 360 and Wii, it won't hurt them that much, unless I am missing some sort of detail...

What was the cost of putting Modern Warfare on PS3 though? Was the profit enough to offset it?
That's the question. If they're only breaking even after paying everyone to place it on PS3 then what's the point? On the other hand if they can force Sony into moving their hand and hopefully raising potential profits it's a worthy attempt. Of course Sony probably won't take the hint, but still.

I do not see Activision ruining their releationship with Sony. Look at the future. What happens if the PS4 is the leading console on the market and Activision already turned their backs on Sony? I see this all as talk but games will definately still roll out from Activision. If not, then oh well. There are plenty of other games without them.
Besides, Activision is just the publisher. Infinity Ward is who is making the game.

I find it hard to believe that Activision can complain about not getting enough net profits when they sell 5 million copies on ps3 along with the map pack. Then there's Guitar Hero which doesn't sell as well on the ps3 as the other consoles, but Sony can threaten to deny a ps2 version and Activision wouldn't dare not release it on ps2. Those are basically the two big console franchises for Activision Blizzard right now. This is an empty threat by Activision. They would lose huge profits and sales if they didn't support ps3 and psp... although they could survive on the Warcraft profits alone...

I don't know if Activision is having much success on the Wii, but i know the Wii has a lot of problem selling 3rd Party Games. If they do, that would mostly make them a 360 Dev.
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune sold 2.5 million copies while having amongst the best graphics and being a fairly lenghty game, and the next Uncharted is still a PS3 eclusive so i'm guessing they made profits out of it. Why wouldn't Activision make any profits out of a port from the 360 that sold 5 million copies sold? I just don't get it and i think they're BSing.
Talk about it good, talk about it bad, but shit, talk about it.

Dude, it's business. It's not like Sony is going to punish Activision, publishers decide which platform they want to publisher game's for, I never seen consoles deciding which games they want on their console. Every gen there is competition, and PS will always have stiff competition with xbox as long two exists, and as long there is competition, there is no way Sony would turn down a big publisher, that would be plain stupid.

I don't know, maybe you should ask Activision, but they are stating that they are losing money investing into PS 3. Uncharted developers/publishers benefit because Sony also pays them bonuses for me exclusive, subsidies, but they are not in position to make decisions such as Activision which is a huge publishing company, because Activision is empowered to do a lot more due to their size than who ever publishes Uncharted.
And I don't know Uncharted having the best graphics, but whatever, I'm not getting into the fanboy war.

My point isn't to start a fanboy war or whatever. Games that have great graphics, details and such are more expansive to make because Devs have to invest monney in the technology to build up their engines and allow such graphics/details.
CoD looks good, but there's better, Gears/2 and Killzone 2 comes to mind. Gears sold around 5 millions and the development cost of Gears 2 must've been higher then CoD, so Epic would've lost monney as well, and Guerilla Games too with KZ2?
The "we lost monney with the PS3" is BS. They made profits, no one is going to make me believe that they need to sell 10 million of copies on PS3 in order to make profits. What he probably means is that their games generated more profits on the 360 and they see the difference in sale with the PS3 as a "lost".

Maybe you need to read this article: Activision: 'We Might Have to Stop Supporting Sony' - Shacknews - PC Games, PlayStation, Xbox 360 and Wii video game news, previews and downloads
Activision clearly states that it lost half-billion dollars to Sony. It's cheaper to developer games for xbox, and exclusives on PS 3 get subsidies and premium bonuses from Sony to develop for them. So clearly my friend, there is nothing to argue about, loss is a loss, and if big company is losing money, there is high propability for it to relocate or cut down on spending, which I am very certain that's exactly what Activision is going to do.

That's different.
And unless i'm reading wrong, they made 4 times this ammount in profits right? No one else is leaving Sony though, EA and the others. Still think it's weird.
“I'm getting concerned about Sony; the PlayStation 3 is losing a bit of momentum "
When did Sony lost it's momentum? Sony had the best E3 IMO with a lot of great games coming, even EA agreed.
"we might want to consider if we support the console — and the PSP [portable] too."
Why would they drop the PSP if the problem is the PS3?
"the attach rates [the number of games each console owner buys] are likely to slow."
Attachement Rates:
360: 8 games per gamers
PS3: 6 games per gamers
Wii: pretty damn low
Dude, that guy is just BSing about everything.
