For those of us who love their next-gen football games very much - i.e. the upcoming Electronic Arts' Madden NFL 09 for the Xbox 360, PS3, PSP, Wii, and DS - here's something of a special bonus, coming directly from video game retailer website GameStop's very own blog. In their own edition of Madden Mondays, the guys talk about a new feature in this iteration of the series - namely, returning missed field goals.

If you're a seasoned veteran in the art of tossing pigskin around, then you'd know what a groundbreaking feature returning missed field goals are. But if you're new to all of this, then this feature pretty much lets you turn something as simple (or as insignificant) as a botched field goal attempt into a game-deciding, momentum-changing touchdown. And pulling it off will definitely be memorable.

I saw some of the madden 09 gameplay videos on Gametrailers. The graphics look pretty damn good. Especially the field and stadium. I like the idea of a replay button for single-player use. It'll save much frustration however it might make the game a little easy though people can opt to not use it.
