"Official" Rainbow Six Vegas Thread

Can I make an official thread? Oh well im very excited for this game and I hope they fixed the problems that were in lockdown. Anybody else excited about it? And YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAH we got a tom clancey sub forum!

Lined with the Eifel Tower, the Empire State Building and a great pyramid, the Las Vegas Strip is paradise to bachelors, elopers and even strippers. The four miles of asphalt between Mandalay Bay and the Stratosphere light up the Nevada night sky, a neon beacon for car loads of eager tourists stuck in traffic on Interstate 15.

Today, though, the Strip is the world's most well-lit graveyard.

Following a terrorist attack on the city, Team Rainbow is called in to discover a boulevard of bombed-out and abandoned cars. America's playground is held hostage, and the government is gambling on Logan Keller and two new Rainbow operatives to sort this out -- Keller's old squad-mates Kan Akahashi and Gabriel Nowak were taken out of commission in Mexico. So Keller choppers into the strip alone, two new agents fresh out of training waiting for him in the carnage below. The Paris Hotel, the fountain of the Bellagio, and the glowing pyramid at the MGM Grand all stand out in the distance, but Keller's mind is on the hundreds of terrorists waiting inside the Calypso Casino below.

Calyspo is the second area in Rainbow Six Vegas, and your introduction to the city after a hard-fought campaign in Mexico. Keller fast ropes down to the street below to meet Michael Walter and Jung Park. The objective: rescue NATO advisor Dr. Philip Smythe.

On the strip, you'll immediately notice Ubisoft's effort to open up Rainbow Six. The environment is large and you'll have to use your team to bound through the street, from abandoned car to abandoned car. Along the way, you'll find a weapons crate where you can swap out your gear -- a sniper rifle isn't a bad choice in such a large environment. You can also grab weapons from the cold, dead hands of fallen terrorists.

There are a number of submachine guns, assault rifles, pistols and other firearms available to Team Rainbow from the very beginning. Obviously, weapons like the Soviet-mad AK-47 are not. If you pick up a weapon in battle, it will be available in weapons crates and Rainbow helicopters throughout the rest of the game, even if you drop the AK seconds after you pick it up. This inventory will carry over to the multiplayer game as well, so grab the Desert Eagle as soon as you can.

Always bet on, um, the guys in black, um, if they're on your side.

After working through the strip, you'll make your own door of C4 into the Calypso Casino, which is occupied by the terrorist force. You'll find yourself on the casino floor, the jingle of slot machines mixing with the bang of grenades and gunfire. Vegas features a ton of destructible environments, and throwing a frag grenade into the pit will make a noticeable, satisfying mess.

From the casino floor, you'll fight your way into the security hallways and the inner workings of the hotel. The style returns to the close-quarters combat we've come to know and love from the Rainbow Six franchise, and you'll use your team to clear rooms, using multiple entry points and breaching procedures. Frag and Clear: oldie but goodie.

The most difficult area of the Calypso Casino is in the hotel lobby, where you will fight your way up several stories to the rooftop restaurant where Dr. Smyth is being held. Enemies come from all sides, and no patch of cover is safe for long. You'll come across a few hostage situations, where the terrorists are filming executions of civilians to get their message on CNN. In these cases, you can switch your team to Infiltration mode, so it will only fire when fired upon. In this way you can ready a surprise attack and position your squad on the enemy flank to inflict maximum damage. Then switch the team back to weapons-free, and enjoy the fireworks.

Nowhere is safe in this Vegas casino. What else is new?

Finally you will find Dr. Smyth, held at gunpoint inside a large restaurant. It's here you get to use one of the most satisfying maneuvers in Vegas: rappelling. Move your team down the outer walls of the restaurant, and then flip upside down and ready your pistol. Take a few tangos out, order your team to breach, and secure Smythe. You'll then escort Smythe to the parking garage, and you can order him to follow or stay put while you engage the enemy.

O yea, it was all my idea! I fell important! Anyways, I want to get the Xbox Live Vision Camera so bad, so I can put my face on my online character.

same here,i have played the demo to death and i am more excited about this game than GOW..i have had this game on pre order for ages.i think they will not make any mistakes like they did in lockdown and the two diffrent modes in the demo * releastic makes it a tuff nut to crack. The cover system works so well and has a more natural feel to it than the cover system in GRAW. Its looks great,seems to play great and ubi soft have a history of getting thier releases right including the live sections.in the UK it's released on the 24th november and i can not wait
