Enemy Red Dots on R6 Map?

Can someone explain to me how it works with the enemy red dots on the maps please?

Do they only appear when they are within a certain range etc or when out of cover?

Does crouching make a difference?

Any tips for the game would be much appreciated.

I think they appear when close and moving in single player. I know when online, if you crouch and sit still you won't be picked up - even by the GPS at times.

Yeah, only close rnage. Some dont show up for some reason.

As all have said before really.
They appear when:
A) Within Sight.
B) Tripping a Motion Sensor.
C) On GPS When Moving (if they stay still for an extended period of time they sometimes do not appear).
D) When they are nearby and make excessive noise (grenades, non-silenced gunshots).

Also keep in mind that when they talk and happen to be nearby, you can hear them also
