Taking it back to the original store really only works if it falls under their return policy guidelines. Although if you have a good store that wants to keep you as a happy returning customer, they might swap it after the policy expires. Have you tried using a laser cleaner? You might have dust build up on the laser head if you say your game is in mint condition.
