Tips for a newbie to Sin City..

Okay, I've just started playing Vegas for the first time. A little late, I know, but I figured I wanna get good at it before vegas 2 comes out. This game is completely bullshit, not shit, it's good, but bullshit. Sometimes I unload a whole clip into someone at close range then someone gets me with one shot. Obviously this game takes a little more aiming than CoD4 (I guess I'm too used to CoD4 where you can practically shoot them in the foot with zero recoil and they die) where as here you need a headshot. But sometimes even when I get the headshot they just don't die.

Is there any tips you could give a ole' fellow like me? What weapons? What scopes? Aiming tips (Should I scope in for every kill or not?) - I tend to scope in at far to midrange, but when I come across someone close enough to spit on, should I? Or just no scope him.

Enlighten me.

A tip for weapons would be use the Famas with a 6X scope. Headshots would be a good idea also but only use the scope at long range. You could also try the acog scope which isn't as magnified as the 6X scope so it's better for mid ranged shots.

For short distances don't use the scope, just fire off rounds and remember to keep moving side to side as it makes it more difficult to be shot.

Are you wearing any armour? Don't worry about what rank you are, the later unlocked armour is just as good as the set you get when you're only a Private. I don't use any armour because it's faster, but I used to have every piece on. It does make a big difference in whether you die faster or not if you're only getting into it, might give you an extra second or so of life.

I don't know about dying with one shot. They must have shot you directly in the head because I rarely die with one bullet even with no armour on at all, maybe you're coming up against good players (which is likely given the amount of time it's been out).

If haven't already been using it, when you're ever in a gunfight one-on-one...or in a group fight...constantly crouch up and down with the left stick. Seriously, just jump up and down and keep darting about. It makes you harder to target and they'll have to continuously re-aim at you, especially if they're after headshots.

If you want my recommendations for good guns, I only use the Mtar and the P90. The Mtar can be dodgy at first, I know I hated it when I first started playing, but if you can get the hang of it, it is a seriously immense weapon. P90 I like using for close quarters and it has 50 bullets in a clip, so obviously that's an advantage.

For scoping I'd say only if you're over a long distance or possibly down a corridor, like the one outside the Keno in Calypso. If you scope when you're close up you'll get a bit confused and the target will keep drifting in and out of your sights. In saying that, if you are using a reflex scope you'd have more of a forgiveness barrier (if you know what I mean) when scoping.

Actually, one other thing to think about is camo. Don't fuck about with that pink shite or some of the other stand out colours. Personally I've went with plain black throughout the majority of my playing, simply because it is, well, camo. In total black you are far harder to see especially in maps with dark settings. If you are playing A&D on Calypso and you're trying to access the roof, you're going to be harder to spot in pure black - likewise if you were to be sniping from the windows on Streets.

Thank you all. I think I'm improving now, I've been finishing 1st-2nd in team sharpshooter matches, I've grown to like the M8.
