THQ is working on a patch (Updated 7/7/09)

They seem to have found a way to leave online matches in UFC 2009 Undisputed (PS3, Xbox 360) without suffering a loss in their record or any penalty whatsoever. The result? Noobs and cheaters have managed to keep their records "undisputed." Good news - THQ is working on a patch to sort it all out.

THQ announced today that a patch to fix the quitter problem is currently in the works. The patch will also address other unspecified issues in the game, but the focus is definitely the cheat issues. As how the the exploit is to be patched, they didn't go into detail, but as long as it keeps the cheaters at bay, it's all good.

This is a much needed patch and its great that THQ is going to do something about the quitters online.

It's still being tested so there are no specifics on a release date yet. It's supposed to come out soon for both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions though. Here are the current patch notes:

We recognize premature match quitting as the biggest online issue and have taken steps to fix it. The Patch will have integrated code that detects who pulls the cable and will assign a Loss as well as a Did Not Finish to that player. The DNF is only counted for the player who executes the disconnection. The DNF rate will be displayed on the fighter selection screen of the Online Ranked Match. When disconnected the Winning Streak is also reset to 0.

We’ve adjusted Ranked Matches to match up players with better connections, which will improve lag issues we’ve seen to date.
We’ve adjusted the difficulty of performing submissions against AI opponents to improve the balance of subs vs. striking when playing against the AI.
We’ve adjusted the Flash KO rate so that they are less frequent.
We’ve increased maximum number of points awarded in online play from 99,999 to 999,999 and we’ve increased the Max Level from 100 to 200.
We’ve lowered the Winning Streak Bonus Max from 5 to 3.
We’ve removed the decimal places on the Leaderboard Winning Percentage so we only show whole percentages.
We’ve addressed the CAF cheat so the skill levels in CAF cannot be cheated and increased. Also any CAF with unfair point values will no longer be able to be used Online.
For PS3 users we’ve also fixed a bug that causes a freeze during auto-save; whichever controller was used to Press Start on the Title Screen will be identified as the main controller.

You'd think they think of this before the game comes out. That is a huge flaw in MP.

I heard rumours that this patch was coming out yesterday (saturday the 13th) but I guess not. Oh well, as long as they recognize that this is a huge problem and are addressing it i'm happy.

I'm sooooo glad they are sorting this out.....what started out as just a few people doing it' it has now turned into a farce where nearly everyone is quiting....especially the players ranked over level 40 (obviously going for the level 50 achievement)

The quiters (CHEATS) are ruining an amazing game....i've had inbetween 40-50 poeple quit on me in under 200 fights and like i said earlier its getting worse...out of 9 fights i had tonight 6 quit...the game has become unplayable

I can't believe the lengths that people go to to cheat on Xbox Live... in any game.. LOL It's laughable.

it was due initially for the 13th to coincide with UFC99 however with microsofts lovely policy of 'if you create a patch we need 3 weeks to approve it at least' it didnt happen.

TBH though it took THQ too long to release this info to the community imo, the forum admins didnt appear online for like 3\4 weeks, imo thats a joke! next thing they want to do is wipe the scoreboards and peoples records... bring it on! my record is 52-20 and i know im plenty good enough to get it back again.. anybody who complains is quite obviously a quitter!

Buy it now and practice....you can still find a bunch of people out there who don't quit, I've posted in another thread that I've been in over 50 fights online (about 40 with unknown people in ranked matches) and only had 2 quit.
