You can't expect every mod to be on here all the time.

I had a long spell from January to May where I wasn't on very much at all (luckily no one noticed

). I think you can expect Diesel to be away for a while now.

I think Tufo was busy with work for a few months, I've seen him be more active in the last few weeks though.

I think the word 'need' is possibly the wrong word. What people sometimes forget when you have moderators/admins on forums, is that the Admin/Moderation team in most parts have full time jobs, whether that be 9-5, or in some cases shift work.
So for moderators 'needing' to be on the forum is impossible in some respects as work, and then family life if applicable will no doubt come before the moderation of a website, however important that may seem to active contributors.

In response to another question along the lines of: "why is it funny?"
When I moderated on a football (soccer) website we never even entertained the infinite requests we received to become moderators. We followed stringent protocol upon hiring new people to the team, which included the monitoring of their quality and accuracy of posts when quoting Law. We also watched out for the obvious deflamatory postings, along with dreaded spamming.

I'm certain that X3F will adhere to these protocols, or similar ones and I would also hazard a guess they also have a 'it's a shame for them' folder where all the pleas for power go to

That's why when you get someone on here and other forums I frequent that say 'I'd be a good moderator' it just cracks me up, because the worst thing to do to become a position of power IMO, is to publicly say you would be good doing it

All kidding aside, I think the mods are this forum are really good. However they are picked, it is working. For example, I have read quite a few threads where a mod and another member have gotten into a heated dicussion, but the mod did not abuse his power (ie. banning or closing of the thread). I have been a part of too many forums where the mods abuse their power. So kudos to you guys!
