User help teams..
Following on from what I said in the rate and critique thread, I think we should have user help teams. For example, The GFX Team. All it would take is a sticky with a list of people who take signature requests, a list of people to PM if they either need help with photoshop, or simply want to request a signature.
This can also be done with a computer help team. When I had problems in Ubuntu, I PM'D Pparks and he replied each time very quickly and very helpfully.. where as if I posted in the computer help thread it may of took him a while to notice, and then help me. The point i'm making here is the person whom is required for assistance will be notifyied much quicker and therefore the problem/request will be done much quicker.
Back me up home boys.

Alternatively, rather then have moderators that moderate the entire forum, why not split them up?? A Graphics Guru can moderate just the graphics section. A computer expert can moderate just the computer/digital home section and so on.
This way you have several small groups, or single people, concentrating on moderating their particular part of the forum, hence they are more likely to spend more time in that section of the forum since they need to moderate it.
So, for example, have 3 or 4 moderators (from different time zones) that moderate across the entire forum, and then small groups of 1 or 2 moderators that moderate the specific area they specialise in.....
I think that would organise things much better, make moderating easier and more efficient, while ensuring the community has an expert or two in each section to turn to.....while at the same time solving your above suggestion.

It's a good Idea Ifti, but at the same time it doesn't quite solve what I suggested, in terms of the graphics forum anyway. I think the only graphic-orientated mod is CMD, so if he had to deal with all PM's he'd be overloaded. I think if we could incorporate the two ideas, have a list of people to PM if someone requires help, and a section-specific mod to moderate the team. E.G say who's free, say who's not, say who's absolutely overloaded with requests etc.

What I meant was to take on more mods that specialise in that area.
So, for example, move CMD so he mods the Graphics section only, along with a new mod who also specialises in graphics. That way you have 2 or 3 mods that moderate that section, and who specialise in the area.
It doesnt necessarily have to be a matter of moving around current mods - you could keep 3-4 of the current mods to moderate the entire forum (as they do now), and move the remaining around to where their knowledge serves them best, and take a few more on that specialise in the areas needed as well.....
Another example would be to move DeathWish to the Digital Home section where he is knowledgeable the most. Move Jimmy to the Computer Section, where he specialises, and so on. Then look to take on more mods in the future that specialise in them areas as well, resulting in groups of more specialised mods that moderate the forum they are most knowledgeable in.... rather then having generic mods that are overloaded with moderating the entire site and cant concentrate on the areas they know best....

Hmm, I understand where you're coming from Ifti but I don't really agree. I think the way the site is modded is good enough how it is.
I like Joey's idea though. Just a sticky in maybe the GFX forum, Computer forum, Digital Home forum and the Xbox 360 console/auxilary/modding etc would be good imo.
Maybe you could just do it now Joey, create a thread and then a mod will sticky it.

I'm not sure about specialized mods, but I do like the idea of having members who volunteer to be contacted for help.

I dunno, I think it would look better if it was started by a mod, plus if I made the sticky I would sort of be 'the leader' which I dont wanna be. Plus, we need volunteers

Yeah I like the ideas here, it would definitely be a good idea to get an official response from the Moderators to try and start this off, they can send out a thread to see who wants to sign up to be a volunteer in helping members in the particular areas of the forum.
Maybe need to run some sort of "background check" on people who are volunteering to check they're suited(know what they're talking about) to the area.

Great idea, would make problems a lot easier as you would know who to PM.

We almost have that anyway, Lethal with his Mods, Deathwish with his ninja like A/V responses,Tufo with his supreme running of the Halo 3 forum
