I was wondering if i would be able to use any SATA hard drive on my 360 or do i need one of the hard drives made especially for the 360? Any help is appreciated.

Well technically you can mod a 20 or 60 and replace with 120 HDD but you have to copy over files etc. Its not really approved by Microsoft though, as apposed to Sony who actually show you how to replace its HDD in the manual.

you can do what i did and buy a replacement 360 hard drive case, a Western Digital Scorpio 120GB Hard Drive (with the model code WD1200BEVS) as this is what microsoft use in the hard drive.
its just a case of screwing it all in

Look, hope I'm not getting introuble by saying this. It's not umm "illegal on live like a mod chip" but its kinda wrong. If so, mods/admins just remove my post.
You CAN use sata hard drives! Just go out and buy a sata hard drive for a laptop (2.5"). You need a flash program, such as ghost. Hook up your orig. xbox hard drive to a empty sata port on your computer. You ghost or "clone" your current hard drive then send the clone to your new laptop hard drive (however big it may me, 120gb or 1TB it does not matter). and thats it then just install it in the hard drive bay and attach back to 360.
I've done this once before... I might make a tut. on it in the near future
I can't find the link to the website I used before, however here is a link to PC World for it.

I've bought the above product recently (1.5TB) and suddenly it dawned on me to plug the usb into the xbox and run movies etc from there....would that work and does that mean i can download 360 games to the extrenal and run them, leigitimately (like a game disc) fr the hard drive??
