It looks like something more than just a rope light around the HDD. The HDD looks like it fits on top of that, see how the HDD sits higher than it normally does?

If this is the same thing, and to be honest, it looks like it is then this is an explanation of what it is:

Datel's new XSATA offers virtually unlimited hard drive space for Xbox 360 owners. Just link the XSATA with your PC's hard drive will allow you greater control over data and saved games. You can then transfer these files via USB or email them to friends if you wish. The Datel XSATA is expected to cost $50 and will be available soon.

soon being the 23rd June (UK)
