Cool Black and white Picture on screen

Hello members hope you can help,

I have just purchased a 360 and when starting to set it up last night, I found that I could only get a black and white picture, I am using a LCD television connecting through the scart, as anybody got any ideas, Cheers Rob

check that on the TV settings that the input you have used is set up correctly.
go into the TV menu screen and you should find some thing to change what the inputs on your screen are. this all depends on what TV you have though.
it might need changing from NTCS to PAL or vice versa...

if the screen has the correct input settings for your device it might be the scart lead. try wiggling and jigging the cable in different spots and moving the conectors either end of the cable while its inserted into the device this will some times cause the picture to improve or ditereate and would show your cable or connecting poits are faulty

i had the samee problem pal,i think it was a faulty lead .so i took my xbox back to the shop an they checked it in the shop an it worked fine ,but they only tested the machine, not my cables, i took it home and still black and white,so i phoned microsoft who said it was likely to be thre cables,so back to the shop to tell them to test it with my own cables. but they couldnt be arsed an they just exchanged it for a new one

Try your TV settings between ntsc or pal, also make sure you have the correct resoloution and right AV channel ect.. i had it flickering coloured and black n white when it wasn't set to PAL.

Yeah it sounds like a PAL/NTSC setting...

If it's supposed to be PAL and you have it set on PAL try putting the refresh rate on 50hz and not 60hz.

It's not the cables I've had the same thing happen today, after play Need For Speed, the screen went blury and then black. Which means it's the video card inside of the 360.

In composite video, which is what I'm are using for a standard tv, the color are modulated with the luminosity. Which means, you CANT loose just the color if it's a cable problem. If it's a cable problem, you loose it all. So, if you loose the color with composite, means you have a problem with your TV or xbox. It seems obvious in our case that the xbox have a big problem with that. If your xbox works well with HD, VGA, or component, and everything is nice and colorful, this is normal. It means that the problem is in the electronic stage just before the color and luminosity are modulated together for composite. HD, VGA or component uses completely different outputs and circuits that are not in trouble here.

Already many users are complaining of the same thing.

Also check these support titles as well

Enjoy as much as I'm for sending my 360 for repair for the second time

It's not the cables it's the 360

Try hooking it up to a different TV and see if the same problem. If it isn't then you know if its the TV, if your using the component wires make sure all 3 of the video wires are pluged in. My old TV use to come in black and white if only 2 or 1 were plugged in. OO and make sure you don't plug the green wire into the blue hole and the other way around because I did do that before lol.
