wireless controller problems

OK i have the same problem as the people above me. I bought my xbox360 yesterday, played Rainbow 6 Vegas for about 2 hours then turned it off. When i turned it back on, all four lights on my controller flash simultaneously. I have no connection, and I have tried the little buttons on the controller and the console, ive replaced batteries, and ive done every combination i can think of for how to hit those two little connection buttons. did my controller already break the first day i got it?
