If you have the play and charge connected to the controller when the console was on then turn it off, the controller will charge. You can't just plug it in when the console is off to charge the controller.

So wait do you keep the same old batteries in the battery pak? I'm totally cofused here, what do you do? I mean do yuo need to replace the batteries after you recharge it anyways?

when you buy the play and charge kit you get a rechargable battery and the play and charge kit you put the battery in your controller instead of the one with the 2 AA batteries and you plug the charger in and in about 2 hours you can take the play and charge kit off of your controller and your controller will be fully charged
