I just bought a pair of the x3s last week. I absolutely love them. Granted retail they are 99 bucks.

I have the X2. I think it's great. The only bad thing about it so far is Halo 3. Halo 3 doesn't give you an in game sound option, so playing campaign co-op its hard to hear my friends.

Ah, the X3 takes care of that issue too with what they call "dynamic talkback level control" which translates to "the volume of the chat is automatically adjusted when the game sounds get lounder." I'm sorry that doesn't do you any good, but I wanted to post it for people currently comparing the X2 and X3.

I am with the OP. The X1's sound is phenomenal. I like to play in the wee hours of the morning on the weekends and the wife doesn't appreciate having the sound up so loud so I can hear everything. I bought these and haven't woken her up once! On top of that, the sound quality of both the game itself and the voice chat are very crisp.
The only thing I don't like about it is the cord, but you can certainly get used to that for what you get out of the headphones.

Yes, and for my budget, the $ difference between X1 and X3 made it worth the hassle of putting up with the extra cable!

And does the X1 have dynamic talkback level control?
