X1 headset really brings out ambient sounds

I have only used the X1, and a friend has the X3.

X1: you have to deal with the extra cable from the headset to the USB port on your console. It doesn't bother me, but it might bother some people.

X2: I have been told by other users that you can't adjust chat volume and game sound volume separately like on the X1 and X3 (any X2 users correct me if I'm wrong on that).

X2 and X3: some users report some trouble with voice transmission problems over the wireless. My friend's X3 has some sessions where I hear him just fine, and then other times I can't understand a word he says. Big advantage of the X1 in my opinion.

ok after a weekend of playing with the x1 i highly record investing in one it is insane you can hear everything

The cable is over 16 feet long - which is actually way more than I needed. But I'd rather have too much than too little. There's one main cable connected to your Xbox (the 16 footer). The other cable is a short piece going from the volume control on the main cable to your wireless controller port for chat.

I know its been a while since anybody posted here. But how do you guys have the X1 hooked up? I want to purchase one soon. I currently have my elite hooked up via optical to my receiver. I thought the headset would just plug into the controller and it would work (stupid me). How are the sound on the headphone, listening surround wise like I can tell from my surround sound when enemys are running around the corners etc.
