Recharable battery and cable

I have a black rechargable battery and cord from Microsoft. A while ago my friend spilled juice on my black controller with the battery inside and charger on. So i have to wait till monday for a new controller, so i used my white controller and i put the black battery in and the charger in no lights go on and it doesnt charge but my black one still works just the buttons are messed up and when i hit start it hits guide so i put the battery in a day later and the charger on and the light goes red. Even when the battery isnt in the black controller the red light goes on.

So what i'm trying to ask is what should i buy a new cord or a new battery.

No lights on on when charger and battery are in white controller but in the black controller a red light goes on when theres a battery and when theres no battery.
