what can the dvd remote do that the controller cant?
ive never used or seen one...

Well the 360 remote has a more traditional setup. Like a DVD remote or TV remote.

Quick access to video (not dvd's) control buttons is a must. Currently to pause a divx file I have to
1) Turn the controller back on
2) Toggle the dpad (or any button) to pull the controls
3) Navigate to the button (generally its on the screen stretch button as the box NEVER scales divx files correctly first time)
4) Click the button
Contrast that to the remote which entails:
1) press the button
Hmmmm having written that out for myself to see. I'm going to get it....thats just a rediculous amount of effort for something so simple....

I use a little unofficial one, was only £2.98 and works well

I bought my 3rd party one for £5 and tbh even at that price i'm thinking it was a waste of money lol.
Using an IR remote when I have 2 wireless controllers seems silly...

okay
you have to push some buttons to get to a menu or something, big whoop
all i need it to do i push play, and im good
but, who knows, maybe some people need it (or want it) its up to them to buy it
