Question Play & Charge Kit at USB

I'm new here and I didn't found any good german 360 forum with many users, so I registered to an english one. I'm german and 14 years old, so please don't complain about my bad english skills Can I charge my controller with the Play & Charge Kit with an USB Hub which isn't connected to a PC or anything? Or do I need to connect it to my PC and install any Hardware before I can charge it? Does the controller stop charging (like when it's connected to a 360) when the batteries are full? And what about the lifetime, is it dangerous if I charge it when it still has the half of the power? Because it's a Ni-MH battery and it's not so good if they get charged when they still have some energy. And buying a new one isn't very cheap.

First off welcome to the forum.

You do not need to install any software to charge your controller using your PC. I dont think it hurts the battery to charge it when its only half dead. My batteries still last me quite a while and they are over a year old. The controller automatically stops charging when its full. You must be connected to the 360 or PC to charge the battery.

You can charge from a PC, but not a USB hub that isn't plugged into a computer.

NiMH batteries don't have a memory so you can charge them at any level of discharge safely. Plus the battery packs are only $12...which is pretty cheap considering the price of AA batteries.

And yes, it stops charging when batteries are at full capacity.

If the USB hub is self powered (as in, it plugs into the wall on its own) then yes, it will probably charge your controller. However, if the hub uses a PC (or 360) for its power, then no, because the hub has no power.

You can probably also use those cell phone charger plugs that have a USB port for power.
