Is it true that the newer Xbox 360's coming off of the assembly line have a built in mechanism now to prevent the RROD? As I recently purchased a premium (February of this year) and read somewhere (can't remember where though) that there was new hardware built in to prevent it.

Is there anyway of checking if my console has the new stuff to try and prevent this??
I too got mine feb this year

Does your console have an HDMI port? If so, then it's one of the 2 newer revisions. The only way to tell if it's the newest revision, however, is to look at the heatsink on the CPU. You can probably do this without opening the case by looking in through the vent on the right side. If the CPU heatsink (the big metal thing) has a copper pipe sticking out the side, then it's a version 2 (Zephyr) console. If it doesn't have a copper pipe, then it's a version 3 (Falcon).

u can also tell by the psu if its 175 watt or not

calc was wrong about that. the wat to tell if u have the falcon chip is if it doesnt say 203w on ur power brick. if it says 175w then u have the falcon 360. this is one of the ways to tell if its falcon.

My PSU says 175 output,
It does have a HDMI port
And I cant see any copper pipe through any of the vents
So does this mean I have a falcon machine??
What does this mean with regards to the RROD???

Yes you have a falcon, in regards to RROD it will help prevent it as it runs a lot cooler (believe me, mine is way cooler than my brothers launch) but its not guaranteed to stop RROD.

The newer models Will Try To prevent the red ring of death , but it just cant be stopped 
but the newer console's have less chance of getting it
