need help connecting 360 audio cables to logitech z-5500 5.1!

Hey guys, I just bought the 360 hd vga cable so i can use my computer lcd and i no longer have to fight my parents for the hd tv downstairs, lol. Anyways I also have logitech 5.1 digital z-5500 speakers which i would love to setup to my 360! However im not sure what sort of cable i need to convert the 360 red and white audio cables to work in the logitech console (or should i get a cable to hook it up to my xi-fi sound card?) im really not sure what i need to hook up the 360 audio cable to my logitech speakers, any help would be appreciated!

since the logitech console has an optical digtial out, and the back of the vga hd cable has an optical digital out, should i just get one of those instead of worrying about extension cables and hooking it up to my computer?

Easiest would be from the optical OUT on xbox to OPTICAL IN on your speakers, i guess theres only one optical in thoguh so perhaps get an optical switcher , they arent too expensive and should sort you out
