Does the 360 play AVI files from a usb pen drive?
as the title suggests really, I have a lot of Movie files as .avi and wondered whether the 360 plays them?

lol no you can only play dvd's and download movies from the marketplace, so if you put the avi onto a dvd then you could probably watch it

Yes it does, You need to be connected to xbox live to install an update though before you can watch them.

i manage to watch roughly half of the file then it gives me an error code, then puts a red circle over the file name, if i click a game trailer and then end it i can then play the rest of the file

Some AVI files won't work but most will play off of a USB stick or Data DVD. If you cant get any of your video files to work just convert them to MP4 with PSP Video 9
