Unhappy Can an HDMI setup be the culprit behind my 360 breaking repeatedly?

I had my 360 for just over a year. In that first year, it never "misbehaved" in any way. At that time, I was playing with the standard A/V cables. However, I bought a flat-screen HDTV and picked up a Dynex HDMI cable to go with it. I had it hooked up like that for about a week and then my 360 stopped reading discs (the dashboard changes to "reading" and then quickly back to "open tray"). I tried all the troubleshooting to no avail, so I sent it in for repair. I got it back, it worked fine out of the box, so I was happy again. A week after I got it back, it broke again with the EXACT SAME problem.

It's currently at the repair center, again, right now. Is this just coincidence. I'm not technologically uneducated, so I know this sounds ridiculous and is almost certainly a coincidence, but want some extra opinions (please don't just guess, that won't help) in case I'm totally missing something here.

If it matters, my system is a Pro and was amongst the first Pros with the 60GB HDD. All my discs are in great shape (I'm an adult and treat my investments well). The system is well-ventilated (not stuffed in some tv stand cabinet or something). In the past, I'd had it on for 6-8 hours at a time, but the past few months, never more than an hour or two consecutively.

Thanks for your input.

Its the other common factor to MS xbox fail rate. about 50% die from RROD/E74 and about 20% MORE die from dvd drive errors of some kind.

No, i do not think its your tv or hdmi cable. The laser probably needs replacement. They probably tried to adjust it ( to save money of course) instead of replacing
