You can't use an external HDD...you can't play on Xbox Live without a memory card or hard drive.

Yeah..you can't play on Live without a gold membership. Sorry if I wasn't clear. But you can go on to the marketplace. But, you can't download without the HDD. So...just get the premium with a gold account!!

heres my arguement, and feel free to counter it, that's the whole point :P

You guys state that premium just means it has the hd etc, but it appears to me that the HD comes with the silver and up package, but has nothing to do with "premium" directly, like if you go to a regular purchasing site like ebgames or whatever, the HD comes with the silver package and on up..

yet i can still find:

XBox Premium Silver
XBox Silver

both have all the same external addons, i reiterate, does "premium" have anything to do with hardware upgrades such as bus, core clock, etc.. stuff you can't just upgrade yourself without soldering and antistatic gear

20gb HDD
12 month gold live
network adapter

can i play on live then?

Jeez...who ever made up that crap "Xbox 360 Silver Edition" "Gold Edition" is lame.

It's really called

"Premium" and "Core"

Premium has this that the core doesn't:

Wireless Controller
Hard Drive
Chrome DVD Drive
Component Cable
Ethernet Cable
Xbox Live Gold (1 Month)

Why the hell would you buy the core when you are going to buy a hard drive...a waste of money.
